FAQ
How do I calculate profit on a cleaning job?
Profit = amount charged − (supplies + other job costs + labor hours × labor cost per hour + miles × your cost per mile). Count your own time at a fair hourly rate, even if you don't pay yourself a wage.
What's the difference between margin and markup?
Margin is profit as a share of the price (profit ÷ price). Markup is profit as a share of cost. A 25% margin is a 33% markup.
What mileage rate should I use?
Use your real cost per mile (fuel, maintenance, insurance, depreciation) or the rate your tax preparer recommends. The IRS publishes a standard mileage rate each year at irs.gov. This calculator is not tax advice.
